Aspiration and celebration at Plymouth University
We’ve just finished unloading the last of the vans after one of our favourite events of the year; Plymouth University Graduation Week.
Plymouth is one of our biggest events, with over 28,000 guests over six days. We love the challenge that the scale of the event brings and, after working with the University for three years, we have it down to a fine art.
The themes for this high profile event are ‘aspiration’ and ‘celebration’ with plenty of bubbles to mark the occasion; we popped nearly 3,000 bottles of Prosecco as guests toasted Plymouth University’s class of 2015!
Our chefs created three separate food offers – catering for up to 1,600 guests per sitting – starting with finger food early in the day, a high tea of cakes and savouries later in the afternoon, and a canapé menu in the early evening.
Over the six days of graduation week we also provided fine dining for a number of smaller events including a fundraising dinner for St.Luke’s Hospice and Plymouth City Council’s staff Star Awards.
As always, we used the best local suppliers wherever possible – part of our ongoing commitment to source locally. Our scones featured ‘Janner Jam’ produced by Plymouth graduate Sarah Greep. The jam is made with local strawberries grown right here in the West Country without any artificial nasties or pesticides and sweetened with British sugarbeet.
Many of our team members were locally grown too with 40 Plymouth University students working front-of-house throughout the week. We’re also incredibly proud of Tanya Hopson from our Cheltenham office who graduated with a 1st in Marketing… well done Tanya!
So let’s raise a glass to Plymouth University’s class of 2015 and wish all of this year’s graduates success in their chosen fields. Bottoms up!
