It’s beginning to look a lot like… a Hype Christmas

Hype Christmas Alice BarWith only days left until the doors open on this year’s Hype Christmas extravaganza at Brunel’s Old Station, we caught up with Hype Agency Event Director, Gemma Box to find out what goes into making their parties so unique.

“Planning starts 12 months before when we decide on the theme for the following year. This year we’ve taken inspiration from Rio Carnival, the 2016 Olympics and St Paul’s Carnival, here in Bristol, to hold our own full on fiesta.”

“When planning our theme the priority is that the party is always different and fun for our repeat customers and that we can tailor the entertainment and food around it.”

“This year has been a dream to organise and it’s been difficult not to get carried away! We use The Invisible Circus to help entertain our guests and they were particularly enthusiastic about this year’s theme. We don’t like to give too much away and spoil the surprise for our guests but there will be fire-eating, samba and, for the first time ever, we’re going to have Dodgems at the venue!”

“We have a fantastic DJ each night and some of our nights will feature our house band ‘Man from Funkle’ covering some well-known hits with a Carnival twist, of course.”

And so to the food, which for many, is the highlight of the evening. “The chefs have had a ball with this year’s theme coming up trumps with a stunning menu including, a trio of ‘Rice & Beans’ to start with Crispy Black Bean and Rice Ball with Creole Dip, Cornmeal Bread with Pineapple and Mango Salsa and Ginger Aioli Slaw, ‘Carnavale Jerk Chicken’ or Roast Pumpkin, Coconut and Chickpea Curry for the main course and Spiced Orange Bavarois with Candy Floss Snow and Pineapple Mint, which is being specially grown for us.”

“Even our photo booth is getting in on the act, taking the guise of a fully decorated carnival float! Hopefully our guests will dress up too. It always adds to the atmosphere and this year’s theme can be interpreted in many ways.”

“Christmas starts early for us this year with our first event on the 26th November and we can’t wait to put a years’ worth of planning into action when we welcome our guests next week.”
